What GravityZone Small Business Security is
GravityZone Small Business Security is the entry edition of Bitdefender's business range, sold direct by Bitdefender for small organisations. Bitdefender describes it as protection for devices (laptops, desktops and file servers) from 1 to 100, managed from Bitdefender's cloud console.
It is aimed at the business that has outgrown each PC looking after itself: you want to see every device in one place, know when something has been blocked and set web or device rules once rather than machine by machine. It is part of the wider GravityZone platform described on our Bitdefender business antivirus page.
The edition covers Windows, macOS and Linux. On Bitdefender's comparison page, Linux systems are treated as servers, and file servers count towards the device total, so a small office with a file server and a dozen laptops is licensed as one estate. Bitdefender's own pages say the subscription is priced per endpoint, bought online and renews automatically unless cancelled.
What is included
Bitdefender lists these protections in Small Business Security on its product and comparison pages (fileless attack protection is listed on the product page, which says it is enabled by default):
| Protection | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| Advanced threat and ransomware mitigation | Detects ransomware behaviour and helps restore affected files |
| Fileless attack protection | Stops attacks that run in memory or through scripts rather than as files on disk |
| Antimalware | Blocks known and new malware before and during execution |
| Anti-phishing and fraud prevention | Blocks phishing and fraudulent websites in the browser |
| Advanced anti-exploit | Stops techniques that hijack legitimate applications |
| Process inspection | Watches running processes for malicious behaviour |
| Firewall and web threat protection | Controls network traffic and blocks malicious downloads |
| Automatic disinfection and removal | Cleans infected files without manual work |
| Central management and reports | One console with an executive summary and a threat explorer |
That covers the core of what most small businesses need from antivirus for small business: prevention, ransomware protection, phishing protection and a console that tells you what happened.

Add-ons Bitdefender sells for Small Business Security
Some capabilities are bought separately on this edition. The product page lists two add-ons, and the comparison page lists more:
- Web Access and Device Control: category-based web filtering and control of USB and other attachable devices.
- Network Attack Defense and Risk Management: blocks network-based attacks and finds risky settings on endpoints.
- Patch Management: finds and installs missing operating system and application patches.
- Full Disk Encryption: manages BitLocker on Windows and FileVault on macOS from the console.
- Mobile security: protection for iOS and Android phones and tablets.
- Email security: filtering for business email.
The base edition already includes web threat protection and anti-phishing, which block malicious and phishing sites. The Web Access and Device Control add-on goes further, with category-based browsing rules and control of USB sticks and other attachable devices, which many organisations want. If you would need these add-ons anyway, compare the total with GravityZone Business Security Premium or with the way we deliver Bitdefender, below.
How we deliver Small Business Security protection
We do not sell the Small Business Security SKU itself. We supply GravityZone Cloud MSP Security, the version of GravityZone that IT providers run from a multi-tenant console, which gives you the same family of protection layers on monthly terms.
| Small Business Security (direct from Bitdefender) | Through Forever Systems |
|---|---|
| Bought online, priced per endpoint, renews automatically | Billed monthly per protected endpoint on your Forever Systems account |
| Device range of 1 to 100 | Bitdefender states there is no minimum commitment on its MSP licensing |
| Web Access and Device Control is an add-on | Web filtering, content control and device control are among the core Cloud MSP Security layers |
| Network Attack Defense and Risk Management is an add-on | Network attack defence and endpoint risk analytics are among the core layers |
| Patch Management, encryption, mobile and email are add-ons | Patch Management, Full Disk Encryption, Mobile Security and Extended Email Security are modules we switch on per device group |
| You run the console | We can set up the console, policies and exclusions for you, or hand you access |
The feature names on Bitdefender's direct and MSP ranges are not identical, so we list each layer and module in the quote rather than assuming a match. For licensing detail, see GravityZone Cloud MSP Security on our licensing site, and our guide to business antivirus cost explains what moves the price.
Is GravityZone Small Business Security the right fit for you?
We will check it against your systems and requirements and recommend the right option.
What running it looks like day to day
A small business antivirus product should be quiet when nothing is wrong and clear when something is. With GravityZone, day-to-day work is mostly in the console:
- Dashboard and executive summary: a view of protected devices, recent detections and devices that need attention, which is also useful evidence for an insurer or a Cyber Essentials assessor.
- Threat explorer: what was blocked, where and when, so you can see whether a detection was a one-off download or something that reached several machines.
- Quarantine and disinfection: infected files are cleaned or quarantined automatically, and you can restore a file that turns out to be safe.
- Policies by group: different rules for office PCs, laptops that travel and file servers, set once and applied to new devices automatically.
- New devices: a new laptop gets the agent from your normal set-up process and joins the right policy group.
The questions worth asking before you buy any small business product are the same: who will look at the console, who will deal with a detection, and who will remove a leaver's device. We can take on some or all of that work if you want; the scope is set out at quote.
Who it suits, and when to look further
Small Business Security, or the equivalent through us, suits:
- Offices with a handful to around a hundred devices and no dedicated IT security person
- Mixed Windows and Mac teams who want one console
- Firms preparing for Cyber Essentials who need malware protection on every in-scope device; see the Cyber Essentials malware protection requirement
- Businesses with a file server or a small Linux server alongside user devices
Look further if:
- You need detection and response. Small Business Security is prevention-focused. If an insurer asks about EDR, read EPP vs EDR and our EDR, XDR and MDR guidance.
- You want tunable machine learning and sandboxing. That is Business Security Premium territory.
- You are weighing other vendors. Our vendors page compares the products we supply by platform, licence unit and upgrade path, without rankings. Trend Micro Worry-Free Services and Webroot are other options built with small businesses in mind.
Getting started
- Count your devices by type: Windows laptops and desktops, Macs, servers and any Linux machines.
- Tell us what you want covered beyond antivirus, such as USB control, patching or encryption.
- We map it to GravityZone modules and send a quote that lists each item.
- Deployment: the old antivirus is removed first so two products are not competing, then the Bitdefender agent is pushed through your device management tool, Group Policy or a download link.
- Review: we can check detections and policy exceptions with you in the first weeks.
Contact us with your device counts and ask us for a quote.
How Forever Systems helps with endpoint protection
We are an independent UK IT and cyber security provider. We supply business antivirus and endpoint protection from several vendors, so we can recommend what fits your devices, your team and your budget rather than pushing one product.
- Review what you have: we look at your current antivirus, your Microsoft licences and the devices you need to cover before suggesting anything new
- Compare the options: next-generation antivirus, EDR and managed services from vendors including CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, ThreatDown, Bitdefender, Trend Micro, Sophos, Check Point, WatchGuard and Acronis
- Licensing and quotes: the right edition and licence count for your Windows, Mac, Linux, server and mobile devices, with pricing confirmed at quote
- Deployment and migration: we can help roll out agents, set policies and remove the old product cleanly
- Support after go-live: help with policy tuning, alerts and renewals, with the scope agreed at quote
We can also help with the rest of your security, from endpoint security and EDR to Cyber Essentials and security awareness training.
Frequently asked questions

How many devices does Bitdefender Small Business Security cover?
Bitdefender describes the edition as covering from 1 to 100 devices, counting laptops, desktops and file servers. For more devices Bitdefender asks you to contact it. Through us, we supply GravityZone Cloud MSP Security instead, sized to your estate.

Yes. File servers count towards the device total, and Bitdefender treats Linux systems as servers. Through us, Windows and Linux servers are licensed per endpoint like any other device.
